I wonder, is the Thunderbird image available as clipart? If not, you could probably find something very close.

Hi Chris. Glad you solved it, but I wonder if it's a common problem. And if so, why it wasn't dealt with in the design stage.

I dig it. :) Both the bass and the song itself.

I agree about the confusion. Returning to the old name is a good move.

I had the guitar version of that.

Fender Basses / Preliminary Fender NAMM News

Paul at TDPRI quoted part of a Fender press release from Jan. 8. over at his front page. I'll requote the parts of interest to us:

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation announced "upgraded" American Standard Series Telecasters today.....Fender's Stratocaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass guitars are also receiving the series upgrades......And for the first time, Fender will be offering the traditional Precision BassĀ® in a five-string passive version, taking the classic platform to a new level.

So, looks like the American Series will become American Standard again.

I don't think I've seen it in nearly-completed form. Very nice!

Gibson Basses / Re: Gibson Namm 2008?

I have to admit that I'm surprised by the success of the SG-RI. Not that it doesn't deserve it, but that a short scale has done so well. And a non-entry-level short scale at that.

I'm pleased with any Gibson bass success.

Summer NAMM was held in Austin the past two years, it's much smaller than the big January show but Gibson had a big booth both times. Not a single bass at the booth this year, and only one Epi in 2006.

We can hope, but don't hold your breath.

I've always loved the symmetrical double cut shape. I used to have a black Illinois-made early 90s Hamer Special guitar (doublecut but flattop, like a LP Special).

I've played one of the medium scale basses, the playability was nice but I'm not a medium scale guy.

The Bass Zone / Just to clarify...

Everything bass-related that doesn't fit in one of the existing brand forums goes here. Technique, bassists, amps, modding, repairs, acoustic bass guitars...you name it. If we see that there are consistently enough threads to warrant a separate forum, we can do that and transfer the existing threads there so nothing is lost.

Hi guys. I've been trying to do several things at once (never easy for me  :D ) but I'll stay online for the time being.

One thing I wanted to mention, even though you can't change your username, I've enabled a feature that lets you change your display name. So -- to use a Monty Python reference -- if you registered as Stan but you suddenly decide you want to be called Loretta, you can do it. As long as nobody tries to impersonate anyone else, I think it's a good feature.
