Other Bass Brands / Guild Chris Hillman "Byrds" Signature Bass

I love hollowbody basses and couldn't resist.
It's lovely, set-up was spot-on for me, arrived just slightly out of tune. Nice case.
It has much more clarity and definition than my other HBs. Came stock with Chromes!

Sounds as great as it looks. Very punchy semi-hollow tone. Skinny neck.

Don't follow those so don't know if that's a good price.

Got a P-Bass with thin-sounding pickup, need to beef things up and would like some suggestions.

I don't want active/battery, and I'd prefer to not spend over $150.

I did come across Lace 21044 Alumitone P-Bass Pickup, the description sounded good, any thoughts?

Thanks!

Gibson Basses / EB-13 knob removal
« on: June 05, 2015, 08:43:55 AM »
I've read a few places that, probably due to the push/pull feature, the knobs are glued on. Anyone know if this is fact? I've tried "normal" methods of removal to no avail. I want a different pickguard made so I gotta remove the knobs, etc.

Gibson Basses / N(U)BD EB-13 lefty

Received Friday, very nice OHSC. This bass is LIGHT! Balances well, the satin finish is gonna allow me to not worry about scratches and dings like I would with a gloss finish. The neck is "different" but in a good way; kinda shallow from top to back. The bridge is an amazing piece of engineering, I had to go online to figure out how to adjust it but after that it was easy. The pickguard is the only negative; the tortoiseshell looks very cheesy and the guard is so flimsy that it flexes when pulling the cable out of the jack. Needs a side-mounted jack or better pickguard. Large variety of tones, each pickup can be tapped by pulling up it's volume knob. The great thing is there's no real loss of output volume with the pickup tapped. My fave setting is with both pickups and tone maxxed and bridge pickup tapped.
