I *love* "Little Shop Of Horrors"...would like to re-visit "The Trip" once again after 40+ years. Enjoyed some of the Poe-based-stuff as well.

RIP, sir.

Blue Öyster Beatles …

That song was always corny, even the dark BÖC can’t save it.  ;D But it’s still kinda cute.

And now for something completely different, I guess...

I favour the original line-up, and the early records. Prefer D.A. to D.B. but...had the latter only written "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" that would've been enough for me to hold him in the highest regard...

It's a feather-weight short scale, just a reminder.

Yeah I'm reminded of that fact whenever I pick one of my '69 EBs right after I've played my '70 Les Paul Bass... :)

To me personally, '68-70 EB-0/3 have the sweetest necks ever...obviously, YMMV.

I think the neck is maple.  The body is mahogany.

Correct. I guess that it was a bass nod to Tribute series which all sport maple necks.

I returned mine due to a major QC flaw and wasn't at all smitten by it otherwise, but I'm sad to see the model discontinued nevertheless. Quite a few people loved theirs, and I've got just about enough Gibson basses to play anyway...

Nice bass at a very decent price. I don't think that the upper cover/handrest was there originally, though.

I bought an SB-300 just before moving back to Europe a few months ago. The sound is different and quite enjoyable IMO, but the neck profile is weird for me, so it gets the least playing time - barely any - out of all of my basses. Shame...

I owned a black RD Standard for more than a decade back in the previous millennium. The bass in the pictures strikes me as a fake, and the body reminds me of some of the kit projects that I've come across online...

My $0.02 only...

Gibson Basses / A rare bird spotted for sale on another forum...

First and foremost, NO affiliation with the seller on my end whatsoever...

Had it not been for the "Gibson Bass Book" I would've never known that this bass existed to begin with.

Has anyone here played the mongrel in question ? I'm not in the States anymore otherwise I'd take it for a spin...

Curiosity...

Sad to see her go, and kudos for putting one hell of a fight the way she did.

RIP, fine lady.

An update on this saga...

I went to see the bass a few days ago. Pretty beaten up, a ton of dings on the back of the neck which annoyed the crap out of me while I was trying it out. Other than that, an unusual and cool instrument.

The guy selling is it a weirdo, but many people would opine that I'm one myself, so that wasn't a big deal. However, I did NOT like the story about how he became the owner of this bass. While I have no doubt that he hasn't stolen it himself, I am somewhat suspicious of the folks that he head acquired it from. Something just didn't feel right, so I passed on it altogether.

Bought myself an amp instead...

To everyone who wished me a speedy recovery - thank you once again, it seems to be on its way... :toast:
