Title: Silver Rails

Jack's new album comes out soon.  I like his piano work, but he's not looking so well these days.

It appears that a lot of effort went into that album.  I have a feeling it will be well worth purchasing.

It has good reviews and I have it on order, but man he does look ill.

Yeah, a bit fragile looking and shocking actually. But his voice and bass sounded good. Also just to the side of him was a Gibson bass ( not sure which model) and a Fender Precision. Could he have tossed that bloody awful Warwick over Ginger's head once and for all?

He still plays his Gibson EB-1. And he still has more than one Warwick signature model.

Sad to see how ill Jack looks.  When you wear a beige jacket you don't care anymore.

Take care of your livers, guys, that's all I can say.

I got my copy last week, and have been listening to it over the week-end.  I think this will be his swan song.  It sounds like he really put his heart into it, unlike something like Shadows in the Air, which seems to lack any enthusiasm.

This is an album of songs, and focuses more on vocals and keys more than his bass.  The bass is there, though.  Big and fat, not like the farts of history.  It's a really good album, with its highs and lows.  You can tell when Jack was feeling good and not by the vocals.  There are a couple where he sounds pretty weak.  My favorites, so far, are probably "Fields of Forever" and "Rusty Lady".
Another strong one is a remake of "Keep It Down" from Out of the Storm.

Sigworthy.

LOL!  One other thing I've noticed is that he seems to be really busy on FB.  It almost seems he's giving it all he's got for one last push.

In the end, we are only mortals.  We frequently forget that when we're young.  I learned at an early age how easily life can be taken from us.

I like Neil Peart's take on the subject...

When we are young, wandering the face of the earth, wondering what our dreams might be worth; learning that we're only immortal, for a limited time...

But let's not write him off quite yet...

he had a liver transplant back in 2003 after learning he had cancer. that and lots of drugs would make anyone kind of rough looking.

Sounds like Jack's been taking lessons from hieronymous.

That sounds highly mudbucker-ish to me.

Style-wise, it also takes me all the way back to the sound of Iron Man by Black Sabbath.

Hieronimous Bosch? Looks more like Jason Pollock to me!  ;)

I've got the CD in the car, haven't gotten round listening to it, David Johansen solo albums have been taking up all my listening time.
