Q question for you guys.

A friend of mine wants to sell his ESP Jazz Bass 800. According to him it wasn't really a production bass, but given to some dealers. It seems to be quite rare. It's made in 1993 and it just looks like a Jazz, but ESP.

Does anyone has more info? Something about prices?

ESP's from the 90's that were made in Japan before they started building in Korea are some really nice basses visually, but the body wood is very low quality, usually basswood. I've heard of the "dealer customs" before, but all the ones I've seen had the ESP modified Jazz body (pointier horns) and aren't so "Fendery." I'd say it's the equivalent of a nice MIJ Fender. I've seen them on eBay priced as collectables because of their relative rarity and they never sell.

Sweet purple burst. Looks like a nice piece of ash too. The upper horn seems like it has similarities to the so called boner basses Fender made at that time, so named for the extended size of their upper horns. Why is ESP called that anyways? Do they have extra sensory powers? If that's the case you would think they should be able to command a bigger market share  ;)

It's hard to put a price on something with no previous sales history. Some may view it as rare and therefore desirable or others may just look at it as one of many Fender clones. It seems to be a well made bass. How much would you like to get for it? I would think anything much over $800 Euros may be over optimistic. Good Luck with the sale.

Excusable for a non-Cougar to own.  But it would look better in translucent Crimson.
