Looking at an SB400 I assume it has some neck dive... am I right? How serious is it?

Rickenbacker Basses / A piece of Ric modification history

Misfits 4001. Easy project.

This bass was abused and smashed, but the neck/body area didn't break despite that huge swimming pool routing. That neck heel should be donated to scientific research.

Fender Basses / Custom Shop Pino Palladino sig P
« on: June 25, 2017, 03:04:47 PM »
Today at the local Fender dealer I spotted a cool looking Pino Palladino sig P. Picked it up, and immediately put it back. It felt like 12lbs. The thing was T40 heavy. Anybody else had a similar experience? Is Pino's '61 P exceptionally heavy?

RIC posted this to fb and Twitter: "A prototype finished today. General production worthy or nah?"

There's also a pinkish 4003. RIC used the hashtag #mykindoftownchicago so my guess is these will be sold by CME.

What do you think? Jerusalem is 40 min drive from Tel Aviv. And he's charging only $40 for a lesson.

The Bass Zone / Advice needed
« on: May 04, 2017, 11:24:34 PM »
So I won this '65 Hofner on eBay on Feb. 18. I paid £800 (Best Offer. That's $1,034). The seller doesn't ship to Israel, so I give him a friend's address in London. He says he sent the bass but it came back because the courier couldn't find the address. He suggests to deliver the bass personally next time he's in London, says he's there once a month with work. I agree. Then he texts me that he lost my friend's phone number. I send it to him. On April 20 he calls my friend and says he's on his way. He never arrives. He can't be contacted ever since. Meanwhile, my eBay Money Back Guarantee eligibility has passed.

Any I idea what I should do? Did I just lose £800?

His name is Conor Lawrence and I understand he's a session drummer from Hebden Bridge, near Manchester. Any chance someone here is located nearby?

Gibson Basses / EB2D

$1,600 is not a bad price for a '69 EB2D, right? Even with the repaired headstock crack?

Hand made in Germany and looks awesome. I hope they string them with flats.

If it's anything like the 60's original large body Höfners, the 500/3, 500/5, Senator, President, or Committee, then this is excellent news.

Gibson Basses / SB400
« on: March 12, 2017, 10:15:08 AM »
I kinda like this one and entered a lowball bid. Yeah, go ahead and make fun of me... What would be a fair price to pay? Also - is it a refin? Never seen one in white before.

Never played one but I saw a and liked the sound. The long-scale SB400 should sound even better, right?
