The Outpost Cafe / Re: Burton Cummings makes a stunning move

I don't know about that. Burton Cummings' voice is so distinctive. The vocalist in the video doesn't come close.

But it's a petty move and probably will not help Cummings' and Bachman's reputation.

When I had my '76, the two-saddle bridge never gave me a problem. Still, the Hipshot is a nice solution.

That's great to know.  I'm glad she decided to comment.  I just found this interview from 1998 which is interesting.

Good lord, a Tripod site still exists!

Jackie has really opened up since her Jeopardy appearance. Maybe she realizes how many fans she still has. She's very active now on Facebook and interacts with her followers.

Randall is on the Facebook Thunderbird group, posts occasionally.

That's good to hear.

52 years later, all the original members of Jo Jo Gunne plus Jimmie Randall are still living (don't know about the others). That's unusual for a 70s rock band.

Which reminds me, although it is several years old, I just noticed this comment by Jackie Fox under this Runaways video.  It's the first one.

If you scroll down, she posts again later.  Of course I can't verify that any of this is real.  On YouTube it usually isn't.  Also, most of the comments seem to be from people who have gone bonkers.  But that's par for the course with YouTube.
...

Yes, that's definitely her YT profile.

At last he can rest easy knowing that the man who killed his wife is dead.

Oh right! Is this song in the Great American Songbook?

No, but it should be.

That's a very apt comparison.

Emmylou and Linda  had different audiences with some overlap.

Two great examples of what Emmylou does best. The first is a Louvin Brothers classic, the second (written by Johnny Mullins) was an earlier hit for Loretta Lynn.

I didn't know he was THAT ACCOMPLISHED a pianist!  :o

Neither did I.

Was J. J. Cale a fan?  ??? Sounds like it.

No idea. Intriguing thought, though.

Never heard of him.
Was he a Fats Domino protegé?
The way he moves behind the piano is exactly the same.

He was one of the old New Orleans R&B pianists, and I think that was just the style if they were singing. But Fats was 9 years older and could have been an influence.

Ever heard this? I posted it here last month on his birthday.

Here's a much less known track from the late 60s that I always liked. Issued on one of Huey P. Meaux's labels.

Jimmie Randall on bass, shortly after Mark Andes left.

Why is Barry Gibb looking down anyone he is singing? Also, what is taped to the back of his acoustic guitar?

Joni Mitchell claimed to have suffered the mysterious 'Morgellons' disease, in which sufferers claim their bodies contain fibres and other foreign material. There is no evidence of Morgellons being anything other than a delusion. I reckon this is down to long term coke use, alongside all the 'chronic Lymes' and other long/term neurological illnesses that seem to cut down musicians and actors.

She's nuts. Imaginary disease.
