Never heard of him, but I will certainly check him out. It's always nice to learn new music! Thanks.

I love Freddie Mercurys vocals but I a bigger fan of Paul Rogers to be honest. I'm glad he doesn't try and be Freddie. I mean it is actually Queen and Paul Rogers not Queen with a replacement singer. In that sense I like it.

I went to the Freddie memorial gig at Wembley just after he died and I was completely amazed to hear George Michael sound closer to Freddie than any one else I've ever heard. Guy must be a complete fruit cake to have a voice that good and want to sing pop songs like he does! As for Annie Lennox at that show................I'm sure the stage hands were on their way to get a gun to put her out of our her misery.

the memorial gig was great, but I just can't stand Paul Rogers and Queen. I understand why John Deacon doesn't play. But that's just my opinion.

The Paul Rogers story.

Last year the Free Forever DVD came out and I was asked to interview one of the members for this magazine I write for. I opted for Andy Fraser, cos he's the bass player. I agreed Andy would call me that wednesday at eight thirty PM. He called and I did the interview.
That friday I was a bit tired after a long week. I had a bit too much red wine, which makes me sleepy so I was in bed at around eleven O'clock. Half an hour later the phone rang and it woke me up. I was too late to pick it up, and I fell asleep again. Half an hour later the telephone rang again and I woke up again. And... too late. I was a bit angry already. My girlfriend went to the toilet, brought the phone and an hour later (like one AM) I was pulled out of my sleep again by the telephone. A bit angry and half asleep I took it.
- Chris here.
- Paul Rogers here.
- Yeah?
- I was supposed to call you for an interview about the DVD.
- I know nothing about that, and Andy Fraser told me everything already.
- Well okay then.
- Bye.
- Bye.
[Click].

As soon as I hung up, I realised that I acted very rude against Paul Rogers... THE Paul Rogers. Singer of Free, Queen, Bad Company et all. My girlfiend heard it all and she almost died laughing.

Bad mistake!

Later I apologized to the management. Fact is that only Andy would call me and not Rogers in the middle of the night;)

Ok, Chris, looks like you won't be filling the bass slot on upcoming Queen and Paul Rodger's tours.  ;D ;D ;D

Paul Rodger's (a great singer) with Queen (a one of a kind band though I wouldn't call them great) is a great natural fit. Second on my list would be Johnny Ramone with the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Ted Nugent with REM.

Johnny Ramone with the Mahavishnu Orchestra

;D  Now that I gotta see!

Added bonus - it would get McLaughlin off the mic!

Uwe

I don't think they would ever ask me...

About Queen: Listen to the albums and there are great tracks. I listened to News Of The World some days ago. Apart from the singles it has some great gems like Spread Your Wings and My Melancholy Blues. Just great.

Freddie was one of the best entertainers and singers ever.
