Folk to the core.  Not country.

Are you channeling Spiro Agnew?  ;D

Agnew, speaking to the California Republican state convention on September 11, 1970: “In the United States today, we have more than our share of the nattering nabobs of negativism. They have formed their own 4-H Club — the ‘hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history.'”

Agnew was quite a fan of alliteration.  What gets me is that he looked so much like my high school biology teacher it was uncanny.

It continues to baffle me why anyone does meth at all.  I saw one doctor on TV, for example, explain that just taking it once can cause irreversible damage.

Sure, there are artists on that list who should be included. OTOH there's Captain Beefheart, who belongs on a list of pretentious pseudo avant garde twaddle.

What?  Not a fan of Captain Beefheart's rock and roll masterpiece "Bat Chain Puller?'  I've never paid any attention to Captain Beefheart or quite a few others on that list, either.  I was just providing the list as an example.  If I made up my own list, it would be way different than that one, although I suspect my list would also have some flaws in it.

1. I live.

2. My (new) knee (prosthesis) is doing fine.

3. I still play bass (have a gig on Sat, in a Stones tribute, would you believe?!).

4. I still follow what is going on in the US (to my general despair!).

5. I'm partly back at work - too much sitting is not good for me and you know what attorneys do most of the time ... -, but my days are crammed with physio therapy sessions, I really want to make this new knee work, it cost enough!

6. You'll hear more from me, I've decided to be an annoying little cripple!

Uwe

Having observed the process myself, I'd say the physical therapy for this is more useful than people may realize.  Despite the drudgery and monotony, it's worth it.

All joking aside, I'd love to have Do-Wah-Diddy-Diddy as the actual national anthem.  Any version of it.

If the RRHOF is screwed up, that list is just as bad. About a third of those artists aren't rock 'n' roll at all. Jazz, reggae, country, soul, hip hop... NOT rock.

I found all the lists to be flawed, including that one.  But it did have a few artists that I really think need to be on there.  If the RRHOF could just put in a few that really belong like the Doobie Brothers, that would be very helpful.  How they are not already in the RRHOF, I really have no idea.  The Doobie Brothers are essential.

So it's like the white house, but for musicians?  :-X

You sound like my best friend who is saying stuff like that all the time.  But what I really should have emphasized is that the worst part is deserving people who have been left out.  It's true there are some that shouldn't be in there at all, but that's a lesser problem, IMO.  This is a long list and not everyone on it should be in, but some definitely should be.

I'd say the RRHOF became a big joke a while ago.  It may have some relevance, but not really all that much.  Putting people in who should be out and keeping people out who should be in.

The Bass Zone / Re: Geddy Lee's New Book!!!

I was just wondering why he didn’t add such basses to his collection. He clearly owns unusual basses as Hagstrom and Eko, and ones that I’ve never seen in his hands, as the EB1 or EB3.
I can’t believe that he has never meet a Starfire looking for vintage basses.

I think it's unlikely you'll see an EB-1 or EB-3 in the hands of anyone fond of Fenders.  Most Fender fans don't like those basses or an EB-2 and especially not an EB-0.  I'm speaking in general of course.  There are always many exceptions.  As for Geddy Lee, of course he is legendary.  But I've never been a Rush fan and have never kept up with what basses he played.  I hope this doesn't make me sound like a barbarian on a Geddy Lee thread, but it probably does.

I just finished looking at the book. I noticed that at least one bass that is in my personal top 5 is not mentioned: the Guild Starfire. I have one in almost pristine conditions. And a De Armond too.
Also no mention of Grabbers, Rippers or Rd’s.
But I’ve the great book of Rob for that, maybe Mr.Lee should have bought a copy!

I'll just speak for myself.  But it would be hard to ignore any Starfires, Grabbers, Rippers, or RDs.

I grew up around several people who liked Peavey.  And the last amp I bought was a Peavey.  It actually does more than enough for what I need it for.  But several years ago on that show Undercover Boss they had a segment on Peavey.  It showed a worker who liked working there, but had found a better paying job somewhere else.  Peavey talked him out of leaving.  He obviously was a valuable employee.  Then not long after that that part of their operation moved overseas.  He was understandably enraged.  I normally don't watch a show like that but around people who wanted to see it.  It really made Peavey look bad, needless to say.  Despite that I don't plan on getting rid of my amp and if I saw another Peavey I liked in the future I'd buy it.
