This discussion is a shining example of why we're all in trouble.

I actually like the ExFactors. I still have my original one from 1985, plus some other early and rare ones. Even have one prototye that Fender offered to buy back that wasn't supposed to leave the factory.

Actually have Stu Hamm's with the Oakland Raiders graphic, plus an early prototype made for Neil Stubenhaus that he used on a lot of famous recordings & tours.

I found myself playing "funkier" when I used the Factors....more thumb and popping. But I almost always use them in the two passive settings, not active.

I'd played short-scale basses for the most part before getting the medium-scale ExFactor. That sort of led me into long-scales after getting used to the drop D longer scale range.

I also have one of Stu's non-drop D Factors. He told me he got that one because Joe Satriani kept bitching that the medium scale ExFactor E "wasn't fat enough."  He told me it was a Fender-made Kubicki but when I got it, it turned out to be a pre-Fender real neck that Fender had apparently build a body for and then attached one of their own "Fender Custom Shop" decals on the headstock!! Even odder....it was an orphanded spare neck from a VERY rare ExFactor set that came with a pair of interchangeable necks and matching dates/SN#s.....and I HAD the matching original bass with the other neck!!! Total coincidence. Probably would have searched in vain 100 years if I actually TRIED to reunite the set....did it by accident instead.

Stunning necks indeed & very cool coincidence!! Congratulations

The Bass Zone / Re: looking for inspiration - punk country

I love the Stop n Go dynamic in this song:

Not really Punk but close. It's a mid 90s Pop Rocker.

I was actually just wondering how to do something like it with one of my songs.
Well I've got one that's based on Folsom Prison Blues too!
Maybe this sort of vibe is what it needs to liven it up.
If you don't use this for yours, Jules, I may use it for mine.
May use it for mine anyway.

The Ferrari Red 20/20 arrived today. It was extremely well packed & had no issues, (except my wife thought it was the ugliest bass I'd ever dragged home!). I mentioned earlier that my Luna Silver bass wanted to be re-united with it's Redneck brother. As it turns out, the serial numbers were only 2 numbers apart! The Luna Silver ended in 89 & The Ferrari Red ended in 91. All of the other numbers matched. Uwe & Jules, when you get a chance, check your serial no's & see how close they are to these.

Congratulations man~ Nice pair!!  8)

When that porno was discovered a coupla years back that might star Meg I watched it & then read the comments.

"That is definitely Meg. I've been with her & those are her tits for sure."

"Liar! I've REALLY been with her & those are NOT her tits."

"Whether it's Meg or not, it's doin' it for me."

& TEH WINNER:

"Look you guys--That HAS to be Meg. Look at how she tilts her head to one side & keeps losin' the beat."

Ha haaaa haaaaaaa

You gotta love this Grammy performance:

Best description of them I ever read by a critic was:

"They're like The Carpenters possessed by the spirit of Zeppelin."

Classic.

I wonder how many millions Meg is worth.
I'd love her even if she was poor. She's got FIRE! to warm a Cold, Cold Night:

Sad. I LOVE 'em!! Got all their cds. Except their first one-couldn't stand it so goot rid of it.
The rest are BRILLIANT!!!!!

Jack will Rock On! Not sure about Meg. I'd try her in my band TigerShark but she probly couldn't play good enuf.

I just recently got turned on to The Dead Weather-the band Jack plays drums in:

THAT's some KILLER drumming! Meg will NEVER be able to play like that.
The Raconteurs are ok with a "full band sound" (bass an' all) but don't thrill me so much.
Why did the White Stripes thrill us so much? Mostly just vocal, guitar & drums!!! Minimalism.
Shouldn't really have been successful without a good bassplayer, right?
The reason they ROCKED:
Damn good songs!!!!! & tho Meg ain't a great drummer she's cooool (& has big tits!!)

Best wishes to Meg & Jack!!
Jack is also working on this project that Norah Jones is involved in--ROME:

Interesting.

Love this quickie portrait of Jack:

Call me crazy but I'm gonna follow thru with getting a lefty Scroll made!
I've got a good amount of money coming in from the sale of some property so I gave Bruce the go ahead today!
He'll begin mine in mid-Feb. & finish in May. Yay, Hooray & freakin' A!!!

Gonna be fretless, "moonburst"--Electric blue & black!! Number 076

He explained that one pickup isn't really a full URB sound. This bums me out more than a little.
I was hopin' to use this for mellow stuff & have a very URB sound. But NOoooo
I still want it tho for the Boz look an' sound!!

How do you like yours by now, Gary?
