I like the neck on my Epi Goth. It's a little wider than I like but it feels thinner from front to back. I don't have big hands but the neck is easier to play than my Lakland Glaub PBass was.

Out of sheer habit I prefer fat and narrow - the way the new Rics were before they slimmed them down (a mistake I think). But slim and wide necks do the job too, they just feel less rock and guitarish  and more "bass clinic lesson" to me.
