That sounded nothing to write home about. Bit more thuddy than an SG Bass, otherwise unremarkable. Didn't feel like the LP Junior basses of yore either, way too much wood.
The DC/Mon(k)ey basses were fine instruments in contrast, versatile yet unmistakably Gibson, double octave, ergonomic, good cutaway access. The unusual both-ways-trussrods in them with a nut that could not be screwed off were a bit tricky if you were not accustomed to them (like I was), they were never before and never again used with another model. Even Gibson custom service did not know they had used them on this model.
And don't forget the "tone plate" in'em. You neither saw nor heard it, yet it was miraculously there ...
