That is nasty!  :o :o :o   At least it looks like somebody loved it enough to wear it out! Also, no sign of the Gibson lettering on the pickups......

P.S..... After thinking about it, I remembered reading about a bass I'd read about on Talkbass, looked it up & confirmed that it was that bass. Here is the story..........

Same guy! Bought it for $400, got it working and sold it 3 years later for $875.

Forget gold, put your money in oddball Gibsons!

It's what I always said!

I'm right so very little of the time that I really relish it when the opposite (of being wrong) occurs accidentally. There is a saying in Germany: "Even a blind chicken finds a seed once in a while."

I've been sucked into buying "Oddball Gibsons" most of my guitar collecting life! Time will tell if there are many interested buyers when I finally put some of them up for adoption............. :vader:

Or as the English version goes, even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while.

Or the Texas version, "Even a blind pig finds a truffle now and then."
"A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any other invention with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila."

Never got this. If anything, blind pigs find more truffle, because they have a sharper sense of smell.

AHEM!   :)  The full version as I've always heard is:  "Even a blind hog finds an acorn in the forest at night occasionally"  Not for a second that this makes any more sense  ???

I never heard it that way! Was there a lot of truffle hunting in Aggieland when you were there? And if so, why didn't they just turn the coeds loose?

Dave, that was very dirty old man and full of sexual innuendo. There really shouldn't be any room for stuff like that here.

That said, truffle scent does remind me of it as well.

I tend to use the phrase most often on the golf course, on the rare occasion when I hit a really good shot.

I learned that Texans speak in metaphor more than any other cultural group I've met (although I'm sure it's pervasive in the south.)

The meaning of the phrases is always clear in context:

"That dog won't hunt."
"I'll run that rabbit."
"He's all hat and no cattle."
"Bless your heart."  (Seldom if ever a compliment.)
"I'm fixin' to...."  (Made famous by Bush #41)
"Who stuck the burr under your saddle?"
"Rode hard and put up wet."
"We've howdyed but we ain't shook."
