That looks nice!  How did you keep the stripe on the neck from getting color?

The holiday pushed delivery of the bass back until tomorrow.

Pinstripe tape.

Same thing with a couple of things I ordered too, hope it arrives tomorrow.

I received my Guild yesterday and did a setup on it.  It plays great!

There was a pleasant surprise in the case:  a Fretsling strap!

I like the sound of the split coil but I'll have to rewire to get everything 100%.  Right now it's set up as V-V-T with a three way switch.  I'll either pull the switch and stay V-V-T or maybe I'll set it up like the 302.  First off I have to build my fretless chops up enough to warrant any overhaul.  I very rarely plug into an amp when I practice at home.

Looks Great Hollow!

Know what you mean about playing through an amp. I rarely plug in at home, but you just about have to for pitch accuracy with a fretless. Interesting wiring job, I could make you a pickguard if you wanted to wire it up like a 302 V/V/T/T with a three-way switch, I'd need a tracing to do the P-bass cutout at the top.

Have we started a trend with these things? I looked for a month or so before I found mine ( and it was on Craigslist ) now I see one ( or two ) a week on the 'bay.

This one looks pretty nice!

Yet another one pops up on Ebay!

http://cgi.ebay.com/1977-VINTAGE-GULD-B-302-BASS-USA-MADE-RARE-100-ORIG_W0QQitemZ280297942541QQihZ018QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And another, Free Shipping with Buy it Now!

http://cgi.ebay.com/1978-Guild-B302A-Fretless-Bass-Mint-Condition_W0QQitemZ180316898951QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item180316898951&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I hate to tell this guy, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't originally fretless. But then again the guy he bought from is pretty sure he's the original owner ( maybe he was pretty sure his Dad was the original owner  ??? ) But like he says it's mint ( except for the changed pickups and two " un visible " dings. Honestly I think anyone has a right to ask any price for any item they have for sale ( e-bay or otherwise ) but if you're going to ask a premium price, and IMHO this is way beyond premium................Get yer' freakin description and spelling right!

Sorry for the rant,

Happy New Year to All,

Scott ( BassVI )

I may take you up on that pickguard somewhere down the line.  I just noticed in my picture that the treble side of the split coil is off, so I'll have to move it over or it will drive me crazy.

That first eBay Guild jumped up substantially in the first few hour of bidding.  There must be a lot of people checking out this site because the seller actually left the "I" out of Guild!

It does seem that these basses are suddenly in vogue.  I wonder what hot band is using one right now?

I hear you, Scott. Even if there's not so much as a scratch, it can't be "mint" unless it's factory original. Besides the admittedly changed pickups, anyone who allegedly owns a music store should know that's not a factory fretless. All beside the point as even a true mint one wouldn't fetch anywhere near his BIN.

Hollow,
Let me know on the guard, I've got the template so any time you need one let me know.

Dave,
I work in a music store and there are standards that you really should adhere to. If you're gonna say mint, it should be at the very least all original without any sign that it has even been played. If you're going to get real technical mint should be "as new" as in newly minted, you ought to have all the docs and case candy as well. Kinda like the 'Bird in the box, that would qualify as "dead mint" ( or maybe just dead  ) since we don't know where or at least how the box was stored.

Oh well, I'm going back to re-minting mine!

Cheers All,

Scott ( BassVI )

describing something as 'mint' or any variation thereof is a misnomer and should be avoided, imho. simply because any obsessive asshat can nitpick at something and find a tiny flaw. i learned this lesson as a  dealer at record shows. :P

CLEAN!  I love a good control cavity.

The rest of it's nice, too.  ;) Guild sure did make some pretty basses.
