No playing here  but a full day planned ! First off to my brothers house from 1-3 (he lives 2 min away) Then off to Cathy's sisters for dinner. Best of both worlds, we get to see both sides of the family and come home to a clean house  ;) Happy Thanksgiving to all !

Everyone have a good and safe one.  We are having a Popeye's deep fried Turkey this year.  I've been wanting to try one for some time.  Picked it up today and will reheat it tomorrow.  Maybe I'll start my diet after tomorrow. ;D

That sounds good.

This year it's just the dog and me. I'm fine with that.

Let me rephrase that. The dog and me and enough turkey for both of us.  ;)

As you can see, the poor little girl is skinny.  ;D

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

Tomorrow I will smoke a 21-pound turkey, both daughters (ages 20 and 21, both in college locally) will come over and help my wife cook lots of "stuff", and we'll chow down.

Smoking Thanksgiving meals is great.  I get to spend the day checking the smoker every hour, drinking some good beer, and watching football.  I am the Universally Acclaimed Sultan of Smokery and my Mission is sacred.  As long as you don't mind getting rather smoked yourself, it's a great gig.

My smoker:

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!  We're trying to get my mom used to the idea that she doesn't have kill herself at every holiday - she's 77 and deserves a break ;D  So I'm doing the cooking - with the ever effective supervision of my wife  :o

I'm not smoking anything but I've already started cooking - I ate so much of the four batches of cornbread I made for the dressing that I had to make another batch  ;) (burrrp) - oh well, have to taste it to make sure it's OK for company.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! We'll be hosting dinner for a total of 12 of us (my wife's family). My baby girl is home and I'm thankful that she's doing so well in  her first year of college. I'm also thankful to be healthy and employed. I hope you all have as much to be thankful for as I do! ;D

Happy Thanksgiving all you Pilgrim descendants! And whatever else was flooded on your shores subsequently.

Dave, so you like your girls furry and a little on the plump side? You really should get out more!

What's her name?

Jody. And we do get out, we just got back from a mile walk.  ;D

Not bad for a senior and his senior dog.  :P

I just gave both dogs baths...so they won't distract from the positive ambience of the kitchen.  Here's a quick cell phone photo of them drying on the cough.  (Boomer on the left, Max on the right.)

The smoker is warming up and turkey goes on in about 20 minutes....will smoke it for 5@ hours and pull it off about 4:00 this afternoon.

I have settled into my Thanksgiving day routine - typing on my laptop while watching Packers pre-game.  Go, PACK!!

Thanks!

Here's the smoker at work.

There was a bush here, inside a boundary of railroad ties.  I pulled the bush out and put in pavers to park the smoker on - this separated it safely from other bushes.  The bush on the left is more than two feet from the smoker. That thing stays a hot a long time while it's in use.

My daughter ate some non-meat item. Not Tofurkey tho. She wasn't too crazy about that. I ate enough turkey for both of us.  ;D

I ate too much of the real deal.  One of the things that washed up here was a guy from Cape Verde that I knew way back.  He wasn't exactly literate, and assumed that if there were a holiday it had to be for a political figure or a religious reason.  Everyone kept saying something he didn't understand on this find day, and he thought we were celebrating the feast of Saint Skeebbing.  So I wish you all HAPPY SAINT SKEEBBING!

Did you tell him the story of how St. Skeebing was trussed up, basted and roasted by infidels?

Not to mention the process of stuffing!

"The process of stuffing ..." - sigh, can't we even have a Thanksgiving thread without someone blowing Fräulein Rommel's horn?

Somehow I'm sure he would approve ;)  That is if he survived meeting his GFs family :o

"GFs" - a new unknown acronym to me. What does it stand for?

Girl Friend - sorry my knowledge of the proper acronyms is poor.

Or at least as innocent as things can get with Mark.

Sorry George... we don't do the "lookie-likey" either... That's a dangerously placed collection of letters, too...!
