Sold for $820. Now I'm having non-bidder remorse. I've seen 70's bodies sell for $500+ on eBay.

why would a 56 bass NEED to be reliced. ???  i remember when doing anything to an original finish ruined the value. i guess those days are gone.

It's a refin.

Yeah, but why would a 56 bass NEED to be reliced.

Its either a 56 or its not regardless of pain job.

I dont get the whole relic thing to be honest.

The most common reason for doing a refin is because it has naturally relliced through age and use.

So why then do a cheap unnatural version of the real thing.

Seems dumb to me.  Like buying Levis with the holes already in them.

A common reason for refinishing an old guitar is because it was stripped by a previous owner. Many Fenders were stripped in the 70's and 80's when a natural woodgrain finish was in vogue. I have done it myself and of course I regret it now, but who knew? We were young and those old Fenders were just used guitars, not 'vintage'.

When you restore a stripped bass, a shiny new paint job looks unnatural. Especially when the rest of the parts show their age. So an artificial aging process is for many the way to go.

And I agree on the Levis.

artificially "reliced" = poseured.
