Another star from my childhood is gone.

RIP Larry Collins.

Here is what is essentially a tribute video done a month before he died.  Since it has an EB-1 in it, it might should be placed in the Gibson bass section, but considering the situation, probably not.

Oh, I remember him. We had that vid of him as a kid here up not too long ago. May he rest in peace fast notes.

I posted that video with Joe Maphis on the EB-1 in the Gibson section a few months back. That was unusual b/c Joe was usually playing guitar. His Semie Mosley-built doubleneck was the inspiration for Larry to have one built.

Joe died in the '80s but his wife and duet partner Rose Lee Maphis became a greeter at the Country Music Hall of Fame when she was in her 90s. She died at 98 a couple of years ago.

Lorrie Collins died in 2018 after a fall, but she had retired a few years earlier. The Collins Kids became costars of the show.

That Clint Eastwood movie came out in the late 70s, but I still vaguely remember it.  Kind of easy to get it mixed up with some of his other ones which were similar.  It might not have received much attention at the time, but Larry Collins was on the soundtrack with "Red Eye Special."

Unlike Clint, that orangutan was at least nominated for best supporting role at the Oscars though it didn't win in the end.

Sure he was.  :mrgreen:

Clint and Manis (Clyde) did receive a Stinker Award nomination for worst on-screen couple. Yet another example of critic blindness to commercial appeal.

Clint was always great on the screen,
it's just that the acting part was never
really his thing.
