NAD Musicmater bass amp

 I was at the House of Guitars today, I spent several hours trying to find a bass that spoke to me, a mid 80's Guild B4 AEB was really talking to me but I saw no real use for it. So I turned my attention to amps. I found a really nice Musicmaster bass amp. It worked and sounded great. Always wanted one so I brought it home. :) pics tomorrow

 It's a early CBS model, pine cabinet with the combination on/off/vol. pot. Real nice shape no rips in the tolex or grill. Nice warm sounding open back vintage tone. I always found these iconic all the Fender style and trade marks, it just looks cool. What kid wouldn't have been over the moon getting one of these with a Musicmaster bass for their B-day,Hanukkah  or Xmas?

I know nothing about them... presume 12" & solid-state or are there suspended valves hanging from the top...

I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of this model ??? Of course the old memory ain't what it used to be and there were several years I wouldn't even look at an amp unless it was a couple of hundred watts with at least 2 15" speakers. Give us some details.

Kenny, they are tube, all off three of em I think. Thats one reason I bought it always wanted a tube practice amp.

gear pron fail;  quit with the cheesecake and bust with the hardcore (open back right?  lets see some tubes dangling and a speaker basket).   :mrgreen:

... also a former guitard had a 6 banger (Bronco) that looks exactly like your Mustang (? - can't quitre read the headstock) bass.  Same colour and everything.  Loved the sound of that thing - one trick pony but a damn good trick.

The Musicmaster Bass amp is really a great guitar amp and they are a steal at under $400.00.  Very similar circuit to a tweed Harvard but the open back makes it louder.  I use one with my Baritone and love it.

That's sure in nice shape for its age. Very clean.

With the open back it's really more suitable as a recording amp, but as others have pointed out, they're used more as guitar amps.

There's one version that uses a weird trapezoidal stryafoam speaker that is a bit better for bass that was lifted from their other beginner amp, the Bantam.
