I used to drool over these girls when I was a kid in the late 70's.  Always loved that white T-Bird on the cover of their Live In Japan record.  Looks like Jackie is playing a Thunderbird II on this video.

Cherie obviously was greatly influenced by the choreography of the ABBA girls, Agnetha and Annafrid.

Has anybody seen the movie yet with Dakota Fanning as Cherie? Or hasn't that been screened yet?

FWIW: Jackie accidentally broke her TBird while in Japan, had a fit and flew home, never to return.  Enduring psychological harm was done though as her choice study subject would later evidence: law. She became an entertainment law specialist.

She has said that the last straw for her was finding out their instruments had not been insured by management for the tour. I know some of her family and have corresponded with her a little bit. She seems pretty cool and is still a rocker at heart.

I've noticed that they appear a bit obsessive, too...  ;)

Joan Jett And The Blackhearts performed Cherry Bomb on Jay Leno last night.  Sounded great.  What kind of 'Bird was her bass player using though?  Joan still looks great!

Didn't Cherie Currie do the lead vocal on the original?

I've seen a trailer for the movie that basically features the make-up.  Dakota is no little girl anymore.

She did but they also re-recorded it with Joan singing some time after Cherie left.

I saw the last 2/3's of Joan Jett's performance last night. She was pretty good, though the mix was just a tad more sedate than I'd like. The bass player was using a Fenderbird through two SVT VR stacks. My band used to cover "Cherry Bomb," which was funny because we were all a bunch of ugly redneck guys with absolutely NO qualities of the song's object.
