I was thinking along the lines of what the endorsement deal paid   And, where's the Optograb?

Could be Henry now OWNS the Optigrab patent?

I guess Nikki was just a casualty of Gibson's cost-cutting financial crisis. Gee, big surprise the Gibson bass line loses it's main endorser. That was likely the biggest cororate expense Gibson ever made on its basses, no?

Do you think they bought him a new wig for the photo shoot or what :P

Doesn't Navin Johnson own the Opti-Grab patent?  ???

Whatever Nikki was paid, I doubt the increase in Gibson bass sales justified it. He was long past his heyday when Gibson signed him.

Looks like something ESP might do. It's not a catastrophy, but a real Bird is nicer. Why Nikki - of all people - would need a double octave neck is beyond me though.

Because it's there...

If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

I've been told by someone on the production crew that there are parts of the show where he could wave with BOTH hands, and somehow the bass keeps on playing.  :o ;) 8)

I heard that as well....well....they never really were good musicians...Tommy Lee was ok..but...the rest sucked. They were the ultimate Image band of the 80's...

I've only heard good things about the Selects. Don't recall ever hearing them though.

FWIW, I have a Select "split P" paired with an older black TB+ in the P-Bird and they sound great together. The Select sounds really nice solo'd as well. Normally I'm not an EMG fan though...
