I'm finally going to put this into practice, will I need a tone pot in the circuit?
I'm looking for the treble from it, its my understanding that a tone pot just rolls off the high end right? so no tone pot will give me the maximum treble output or am I all arse about face?

the pickup ring and hexagonal bridge look a little busy together on this model,
what would be supercool would be a hexagonal tele style bridge/pickup mount

In preparation for seeing them this weekend I've been caning these guys, one of the few bands that I feel successfully mix guitars and House music
They're my Missus' favourite band and I bought her tickets for her Birthday back in May for them doing one of those "First Album in its Entirety" tours
Since then its all got a bit bittersweet as Jake aka "The Reverend Dwayne Love", founder member, MC and main songwriter passed away a few days after the tickets arrived. I knew Jake reasonably well, having toured with him twice when he was guest singer with SAHB so its going to be a little sad seeing the band without him, although by reports they have turned the show into a celebration of Jake and his work. The gig is the last on the mini tour, and is in Brixton where they got together. There is no news yet whether they intend to keep going without Jake so this may be a very triumphant farewell show so I am really happy that I happened to get tickets to what is probably going to be a very special night

Hawkwind are one of my all time favourites, I'm gutted that the imminent death of my car has forced me to forgo tickets for their 50th Anniversary shows.(the fact that they're not playing their usual gig locally, which i can blag into makes this worse)
Ive seen them many many times and they had got a bit "tired" but on the last tour they were astoundingly good and I am really pleased that they're having a bit of a renaisance, they were tight as and really tore the roof off.
a good part of the new lease of life is their new bass player who is really proper good. his style puts me in mind of Cliff Burton and it really really works with the material.
If you like them then take the chance now to see them while they're reinvigorated

I had a guitarist friend (who died from smoking) who also always maintained that Prince was underrated as a guitarist. He wasn't a fan and neither am I, but Prince came up with some good music.

I'd like some advice please, I've never been inside a pickup before
I have a chinabucker that has ceased giving an output, looking at the back its quite obviously the loose wire at the top, but when I compare it to a fresh out of the bag one it appears slightly different
on the new one the two wires disappear into the two holes , on the broken one where the loose wire looks like it should go into, the hole is obscured by flat metal that resists all poking and prodding
is there a part that could have come loose and sheared the wire and got lodged over the hole?
it looks like the cover is just held on by 4 bits of solder, can I melt/suck the solder off and remove the cover, and if so will I be able to access the contact that the broken wire needs reconnecting to?

I was dissappointed with this, theres nothing you can point to thats wrong, it just fails to shine
I was so looking forward to this, Ive been a massive fan of Frankie Perez since his work with the Forest Rangers on Sons of Anarchy and waiting for him to find a suitable home for his dextrous voice so when I heard about the calibre of his new band mates I was really hopeful. Lets hope they write better when they finish the Album. at this point I prefer him with Apocalyptica
I think tho he may be one of those singers who always sounds better singing other peoples material
