Gibson Basses / Re: 2020 20/20 Reissue, Where are you????

It is easy to tell the difference between the two languages, Michael:
German is the high art of sonic sophistication,

Dutch is more like, how shall I say it ... perhaps animal sounds?

someone once said to me that Dutch was just German spoken in a silly voice, I don't know how true that is but the dutch guy in the room laughed like a drain

I am pleasantly surprised by the difference in sound between the neck position and the bridge position.
An often heard criticism about the Grabber is that the sliding mechanism is just a gimmick with little or no effect for the sound. This clearly isn’t the case with the Grabbird.  :toast:

that sounds great,
The sliding pickup really appeals to the mad inventor in me, can I ask how the mechanism works? Ive never been near a grabber, do you use the same principles or did you engineer from scratch ?

I like Snowy White (and the album Chinatown) a lot. Both his and Gary Moore's stints in Thin Lizzy spiced up the guitarplaying. Robbo and Scott was more like siamese twin guitars, with essentially the same approach and style (which by all means had its benefits as well).

I'm a snowy white fan too, I didn't know he had a stint in Thin Lizzy.I knew him as the touring second guitar for Pink Floyd back in the day.

I had the 7" of Bird of Paradise as a teenager that got played a lot.

I had a pleasant surprise when i saw Roger Waters doing the Whole of Dark side at Glastonbury and Snowy was doing all Dave Gilmour's vocal parts as well as his guitar parts. I didn't really know what he looked like , I just had thought that they had got a great singer/guitarist to do those parts, then at the end when Roger Waters introduced the band it was an "Oh that makes sense " moment

there was some murmuring round these parts that the chinabuckers might have been tests for Epis new reversed engineered bird pups ie 760s but I don't think anyone has compared yet

Let me put my hands on you...  I loved the SAHB!

They are lovely people and the two tours I did with them were some of the best times I had in rock'n'roll

I have them to thank for a lot of my success as a video guy. Chris Glenn saw me VJing at a rave with Public Domain and decided my show would work in a rock setting, and then when Joe Elliot made a guest appearance at a SAHB gig he decided my stuff would look good in a stadium, and the rest is history

When I went to Graceland (I wasn't invited, I paid entrance!  ), I was surprised to find it comparatively modest. .

likewise that was my takeaway impression.

I was invited! it turns out the "Curator of the Elvis Collection" was a big Def Leppard fan, so whenever they play Memphis she gets a backstage pass in return for a personal tour for any of the crew who want it, which was nice.

She still wouldn't let us in the bedroom tho.

I'd venture that Sabs renaissance began slightly before grunge, As a DJ in a rock club in the early nineties Faith no More's version of War pigs was a floor filler, which I think led to a lot of kids seeking them out and getting into them

No doubt homeopathic treatments are sometimes concluded by a positive result - causation is the issue. Without proof of causation, you're in the realm of faith

The placebo effect can trick the body into doing some amazing things, that's why they have to control for it in rigorous tests

. Faith can be a healer too.

cant let a quote like that pass without dropping my old firm

quite sad theres only Zal and Chris left now

Esoteric voodoo health crap, Gwyneth ain't the worst, anti-vaccinators are,
care to guess the percentage of antivaxers among goop's clientele?

Goop got savaged in last weeks new scientist too

my wife bought me a tshirt that says "Homeopathy is the Air Guitar of medicine "

Homeopathy works through the placebo effect, which can be really powerful sometimes

after years against railing against the nonsense of it I had to eat my words somewhat when the only thing that would settle my teething daughter was Nelsons Homeopathic teething powder.

"Inharmonicity", wasn't that one of those unpronounceable Police albums back in the day?

(Hard to believe, but I only saw this "Gordon flees the DUNE set and is on his way heavily inspired by Duran Duran's Wild Boys vid" now!  )
I'd never seen that either, weren't the 80s so excessive, just thinking about the logistics of that shoot  pre-CGI makes my eyes water
I wont go into the uncomfortable use of a snare drum as a seat or mr Summers using a tv aerial as a guitar

Had a similar experience with Primus in 1989. "Who are we playing with?" "Some band from San Francisco called Primus".  ;D This was at Avalon, formerly Tuts, formerly the Quiet Knight.

my nearest was being supported by Travis at the Freebutt in Brighton, doesnt compare to Rush or Primus but at least we were above them on the bill :)

Some of Stings solo music is "too adult" for me (I'm turning 60 this year, immaturity can last forever!

someone once told me if you can make it to 50 without growing up then you don't have to!

I have one month to go
