If I refinish my 20/20 black, do you think it will be worth more?  :puke:

Maybe I should have left my '73 Ripper in the period Smurf Blue brush-on paint.  :-\

See my post of the review basses...

What I heard is this.

Like Uwe said in his first post, Gibson is down for 200 million dollar or something. Banks tried to sell it to Hartley Peavey, but they asked too much, so no deal.

Fender is also down with almost the same amount of money, so they won't buy Gibson.

I believe Lakland is also for sale.

The only way the banks could offer Gibson for sale is if they had actually taken possession. They haven't.... yet.

Fender's financial info isn't public, their debt position is a rumor. I do agree that they probably don't have the resources to buy Gibson after buying Kaman.

Look on the bright side: if all those old parts could show up on ebay 25 years after they pulled out of Kalamazoo because someone bought an abandoned storage unit, imagine the fun we will all have if they go tits up now!  Sure, we will have to wait until 2035, and ebay will probably have worse problems.  But I can wait for a semi-finished SGZ bass to come up.  Maybe a Nikki Sixx bass with no hardware!  Mmmm...
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

Only those blessed with NOT owning an SG-Z can clamor for one. Owning one is a reality bite. Those basses - I own two - sound limp and were deleted quickly for a reason. An SG-Z compares to an SG-RI like a piece of wonder bread compares to a prime grade steak for nutrition value.

I guess any SG bass without a neck mudbucker must sound limp.

Wouldn't it be enough just throwing in a coupple of TB+ pickups to cure the problem? or a mudabuka maybe?

The SG Bass (EB3) that Gibson makes today has a Thunderbrid pickup lurking under the mudbucker casing.
I've heard very enthousiastic stories about these.

Uwe, if it is so bad owning an SG-Z you can send one to me, I like both bread and steak:)
