New guy saying hello
« on: November 18, 2011, 02:49:41 AM »
G'day all,

I am from Bremen, Germany,

my search for some info about non reverse T-birds led me to this forum.
I read a bit through the projects section - very cool. I am (more or less) working on a plan
for a non reverse firebird for some time now. After a while I realized that the body
shape is identical to the NR T-bird (seems like Gibson used the same bodies for both guitars and basses).
So, with a little extra work I have a plan for both... we'll see.  :-\ I just need to find the time to finish the plan.

My main forum is offsetguitars where I also have a thread on the subject.

Here's a sneak peek:

Best,
M.

Hi Popp, welcome!

Great plan.
Coincidentally I've been talking to BaCH about making a NR Firebird lately!
Keep us posted on your project

Thanks,

for now, I also have a tracing of an original FB NR 12string - I will use this to re-check my drawing - Big thanks to brillant Australian guitar maker Harvester for doing this! He also send me a headstock tracing that he made from a FB NR copy (Greco? I am not sure). It looks pretty accurate. I've also collected tons of photos from all around the web. Geek stuff. :P

Oooh, this is a very long read. I'm at work right now... so I have to wait until tonight.
I thought about getting my hands on a BaCHbird, too. The unfinished one. I'm not so
happy about the back cavity routing... the overall shape looks very promising though.

There was a WWII fighter flying above where I live in The Netherlands some weeks ago. I was driving my car, so I couldn't identify it, but I guess it was British.
