What happened to that "no rest for the wicked!"-thing?

Now bow down, skirt up and be spanked, Mark!

Promising me a good time are you?  :-*

I did know Lord had passed away, I really haven't cared as much since Glover, then RB left the band, Jon's passing makes it more difficult yet.

Jon Lord was Deep Purple. Not to minimize all the other players and line ups but the one constant signature sound in the group was Jon. Airey is plenty competent but Lord had the soul.

Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

RB's new rug, right...?

Darth Blackmore does suit him somewhat...
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

I had a Pete Frame family tree of Deep Purple that came with a greatest hits album I think from around 1985, kind of like this one: http://familyofrock.net/deep-purple-roots-and-branches-1963-1979/

But my mom threw it away!  :o

I think the most recent album Now What?! is great! Love the new logo - Deep ?urp!e - Don Airey sounds great, some of the songs are really really good - it really sounds to me like Deep ?urp!e at their best, I would put it on a par with Perfect Strangers. I saw that tour, at Budokan no less! Would love to see the current version.

No Rainbow on that family tree?

No Rainbow on that family tree?

Rob: With no less than four vocalists, six bassists (counting Mark Clarke in who recorded but was wiped and replaced by Daisley or Blackmore himself playing bass), six keyboarders and five drummers, Rainbow has its own Peter Frame family tree (no joke)! Only the lead guitarist stayed the same. Blackmore played a high price for his hire-and-fire policy - through all its eras, Rainbow always remained a two-dimensional affair, pallid compared to Deep Purple. He doesn't realize it, but Blackmore is only second-rate when he can have everything his way. Though he gets easily bored with it.

Well, I managed to make it through the 8 AM hour of Today only to hear DP play Smoke On The Water. How predictable! That's what most Americans know them for, though, and the crowds on the plaza were happy. Maybe they'll air another number during the 10 AM hour but for that you have to endure the obnoxious Kathie Lee Gifford.
