I thought it was by the crushed pearl shark fin inlay?? Am I right??

No, I think that is correct for a '72. Truss rods and jack plate look good too. The wood part is junk though.

Body wings have been sanded and modified.Its very real..But, Very Messed up.

And it looks like it's had two sets of tuners and may have a big crack in the neck on the G side. Shame, it's pretty wood. You can get nicer raped and stripped bodies for less from that Gibsonreliable guy who sells on eBay.

i had a univox clone. it had that type of inlays.

That's what led me to believe that it was a Univox of sorts... Never saw a REAL Ric with those crushed glitter inlays..

Looks real to me. But really messed up.
If the other parts were there it could be restored with new body wings, but it's just the husk, so no. The fretboard can be salvaged.

The crushed pearl full width inlays are correct for pre '73 Rics, and are a big deal to collectors. Looks like some genius routed the checkerboard binding off. The jack plate has a "72 s/n. It is a mess. At First I thought "add a new pair of body wings...", but then I saw the cracked neck. :-\

The cracked neck can easily be fixed. After that I'd buy parts and leave it as is. One of the rules of antique restoration is a piece has had a life and what has happened to the piece becomes part of it. Even if you swap out the "wings" this bass will never become a collectors item. It's a bass with a past, much like a woman if you love her you live with it. I'ts cool and I'm tempted, sadly it's way over priced.

It's pretty wood. I could totally see rehabbing it and leaving it a natural even with the missing binding and letting it go at that. To me, it looks like whoever did route it down did a good job at it. It is overpriced though. He's selling some of the parts in separate auctions, including a black TRC for something like $250.

Univox Ricks were pretty decent basses.

No reason they shouldn't be, really. There are no secret ingredients in a genuine Ric. Legal issues aside, if you build it properly, you should get a decent bass.

Careful what you wish for, I've read many times where Peter Hook had one and he calls it absolute shite.
I had an Electra 4001 copy and it was too.

The neck through body copies were all nicely made basses. I've got no comment regarding the bolt on neck versions. :mrgreen:
