EBAY Madness....
« on: December 25, 2010, 03:18:42 PM »
Man, I just had to post this after seeing it on EBAY.

$750 for a 1971 Fender PBass neck....just needs a teeny, tiny bit of work :)

"...WAS ALOS REFINISHED..."

The seller is not only an optimist, but evidently also a true master of the English language.

Love the seller's name "Finditonlyhere".  At that price I certainly hope so.

My favorite comment of his was, "ALL PARTS WERE ORIGINAL". Operative word here is "WERE".

George Washington's hatchet he used to cut down the cherry tree comes to mind: handle replaced twice, but the blade only once!

I've got my original 1970 rosewood P neck sitting in a closet. Based on the price and condition of that one on Ebay, mine should be worth about  $50,000. ;D

I think I paid $450 for the '74 neck I put on my Fenderbird, but it's supersweet. If the body hadn't been a real T-bird body, I would have gone for an aftermarket neck, but I wanted it to be totally period. Turned out great.

On the same note, new Fender necks are expensive as crap too, especially if it has "Made in USA" on them.

I have 3 'Fender Made in USA replacement' necks, they're very good but the vintage tint is a little dark.  Fender no longer makes them.  I dig the Allparts MIJ replacements a lot.  The 10" radius is between a vintage Fender and a Mighty Mite with a nice contour and I can tint them any way I want.
