Title: '87 Gibby TBird
Post by: mc2NY on August 22, 2014, 08:57:14 AM
Found this near mint 1987 Gibson Custom Shop TBird hanging up high from a dealer's ceiling....even had the original case.  Looks to have been played once and put back in the case for 27 years!

 Nice score!

See, all that black hardware looks perfect for an '87.

Someone should knee Henry J in the 'nads and remind him it's 2014.

I have a NOS set of chrome '76 TBird PUPs, like the ones Gibson used in my '86 TBird II.....will probably drop those in this one.

....not sure but probably.

Dealer didn't realize what he had. Snagged it for the price of a run of the mill used modern Gibby TBird !!

I'd leave those pups in there, they are likely the early variant - not at all like the current ones. Take a look, and a pic please!

Those early TB Plus soapies have none of the vavooom later versions had and which today's version has perhaps a little too much, sacrificing clarity for an over-abundance of power. Gibson must think that TBird players aren't really clanksters.
