Nice Gibson logo and serial number! Where the hell did those tuners come from? What is that brass plate with the acorn nuts holding together?

Ooooo...my guitar player has been perving for one of these since he first heard Leslie West.
I passed this along.
I can only imagine the plate is protecting the beginnings of a split.

If you zoom in on that last pic, it looks like there's a crack along the grain just below the headstock/neck transition Then there's the fact that '59 MMs didn't have a volute, yet the transition looks like one, which shows that the headstock has been thinned quite a bit.

I suspect those bolts are all that is holding that whitling at the head together... Jackie particularly like the carved Gibson logo...
