Great Zemaitis Deal!
« on: March 07, 2009, 01:18:59 AM »
Just needs some engraving done--luckily Danny O'Brien is still alive:

Hope someone here gets her! Ain't the headstock WILD??!!

I reckon an offer of $14,500 would be accepted. Just a guess. ;)
If I was a rich German lawyer tho I'd hit that BIN!

Tony Zemaitis often included drawings & letters & photos with his guitars when he shipped 'em to customers.

I got this photo of Tony in the little plane he built when I got my 6 string:

...& a sketch of my ax too.

Yeah~ but THIS one is cool too--& a better price!

http://www.maverick-music.com/scripts/vintage-guitars.asp?idproduct=194

Only 15k! Seriously~ a very, very, very great deal, rightys!

LOVE that geisha....but I like the engraving on mine better! :D
It's a great bargain tho.

Then again...the headstock on that other one is the shiznit!
I'd rather have that one if it wouldn't be TOO expensive to get Danny O'Brien to engrave it nicely!

...& if it was lefty. :(

Good idea, Scott!

Dave~ You've got me chuckling again, as usual. Thanks

Look~ Someone made an offer on the one with the trippy headstock.
I wonder if it was someone here. ;) Guess we'll know in about 2 days 19 hours...if not sooner!
Sure would like to see Uwe or someone else here swoop it!

My bud in Hawaii who owns 3 Zs is contacting Danny O about engraving.
The Greco/Zemaitis company is laggin' on answering my email message about having Danny put my name on the placard on the headstock.
My bud says he may just flip it & put it on the same placard the original owner's name is on.
That shouldn't cost too much.

Havin' this bass fully engraved may be expensive, but it sure would be cool to have it custom done any way you want it!!!

WOW!  Talk about a falling market.  Sold for half what it did a year ago.  I always said I'd do it if I had the chance.  Guess I was wrong.  I may have played that Geisha bass.  Is that one at Maverick Music?  They wanted a mere $13K for it 6 years ago.

Well the ones made by Tony are gone but look on the Greco/Zemaitis site:

http://www.zemaitis-guitars.com/our_guitars/bass/

I don't think they've made any lefty basses yet. I sure would LOVE one when they do.
I dig the BMF-DCP-BK best:

...but that Ronnie Lane one is mighty nice too!!
Gonna email 'em for info on a lefty & ask the price & WHEN...but can't get one just yet.
I'm gonna be eatin' rice & beans for awhile as it is since I bought that Z made by TZ!
Sure is wonderful to play, lemmetellya. I'm sure these Japanese ones are very nice too.

I have to ask why are they so expensive?

Is ingraving that hard or expensive?

Does Les Claypool play them?

The Greco/Zemaitises are reasonably priced. It's the ones hand made by Tony Zemaitis RIP  that are high priced.
Still haven't seen 'em go for really crazy prices (like over 100k) like old Gibsons & Fenders.
They ARE better than Gibsons & Fenders, lemmetellya.
