Gibson Basses / Re: More mod collection basses. Tbirds too
« on: October 05, 2022, 06:31:31 PM »
Every time I'm feeling down I remind myself that there are at least a few people out there in the world that think of my dangling bits at least three or four times a year...

Very cool. I was a big fan of both the Babys and his solo career. I used to go see his shows whenever he played in LA, but it's been over 20 years since the last time. I'm glad to hear he still plays bass (I was bummed when the Babys got Ricky Phillips instead).

They're too old for 1982, but I like it! Not only the singer's hair reminds one of Steve Perry though.

I don't know about the singer, but the guitarist is around our age. (Maybe somewhere between us?) He was in King Cobra and then BulletBoys a couple times. He abruptly left earlier this year (the original lineup had a short lived reunion) and I wondered what he'd do next.

This whole album has my brain arguing that I'm in the summer of 1982. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's right up my (teenage) alley.

Herr Carlston, I've missed you! I was beginning to get worried like you might have gotten a haircut or something equally debilitating. But your avatar protrait reassuringly floods back warm childhood memories of Catweazle, an acccidentally time-travelling 11th century Celtic druid coming to grips with late 60ies/early 70ies Britain  ...

Glad I could be of service, my friend!

Other Bass Brands / Re: A Greco Ric clone on Ebay
« on: July 21, 2022, 07:26:30 PM »
I've owned three Greco Ric copies (all neck thru), two Rics (4003 and a 4003S), and a bolt neck Aria. They were beautiful, but I found the Grecos didn't sound like a Ric to me. I get comparing them to a Fender. The Aria (which had flats) nailed the tone to my ears. If I ever see a realistically priced neck thru Aria copy I'll probably buy it. I like having both (a real one and a faker).

You're not doing my G.A.S. any favors, Scott.  Sounds fantastic!

I'd choose a Tele Thinline over an Acoustasonic any day.

Oh my, did you buy a complementary yacht for yourself too, George?

Children beware: This is what old Mötley Crüe fans end up with!

WTF?
