That was gooey back then......................Still is!  :-*

Pah, I liked it, gooey or not. I have a gooey side you know. And this was in a similar vein and I liked it too!

I dig keyboard sounds and rhythms like that.

He learned to sing? I could swear he just learned to whine in (sorta) key.

...and in my defense, you haven't mentioned your spalted Explorer in quite awhile.

True, but your typical Metallica fan doesn't demand more!

How you rub it in ...  but just for you I'm taking the spalted one to my next audition, hah!

Tin Machine

There's a band I'm stoked to see mentioned! Good stuff Uwe.  :)

I think Bowie did some of his best work with them. Vastly underrated and probably the best rhythm section I have seen - ever. The Sales brothers were telepathic and played the weirdest signature and tempo-leaving breaks I've ever heard. But in perfect sibling harmony! Of course almost all the audience expected a David Bowie concert and were disappointed.

I thought I was the only guy on earth who ever liked Tin Machine!

Très cool, love those suits, what a fashion statement! It was rock music with an edge, but very urban, I liked that combination, have been looking for it ever since, but whenever people ask me what music I would like to play and I say "Tin Machine type", then I either get blank faces or a surprised "not very many people will want to listen to it then!" .

I loved them for the Yardbird'ish riff of that song alone ... plus David still had his original (all over the place) teeth, never liked how those implants changed his smile ... And the music is Progish in parts and really testing the limits, but always coming back to a good tune and riff. Never mind the adorable rhythm section work of Hunt and Tony Sales. Some of the off-the-wall intensity of The Doors come to mind.

I think of it like Neil Young's "ditch" era, or maybe the Geffen one, with him (DB) playing smaller venues and looking like he's enjoying playing live again... doing what he wants to do, and not what the manager expected of him...
