BACK IN BLACK
« on: October 01, 2008, 07:42:33 PM »
I have posted my '75 P-bass before but i had a white p/g on it for like 10 years.i've owned it since '93.i decided to restore it back to original.so i put the old black one back on.it has Bartolini's and a Badass.i've been looking for some old Fender pups but no luck yet.and yes i have a half finished motorcycle in my livingroom.i also live in a fourth floor walk up.

and my tribute to Dee Dee Ramone though his where always white.

I like it better with the black guard!

i've been looking for some old Fender pups but no luck yet

You can find 70's grey bottom P pickups on eBay for about $200. I know most of them are offered with $300-400 asking prices, but keep looking. AFAIK all grey bottoms are the same, it doesn't have to be a '75 to be correct for your bass. Any 70's pickup will do.

Nice black vinyl collection you've got there too, SkateRat!

I've got a '78 Fender P Black on Black with maple blankplank.
The pickups kind of match the maple...modded with a J too!!
I'll post a pic tomorrow...

Hey~ AC/DC's got a new album! btw ...& they're touring.

I'd leave the Barts in.  Are you using the 8S?  I put those in my '64 when I had it.  Best thing I ever did for that bass.

Chucks - they don't make 'em like they used to. Oh, how I long for a pair from the early 70s with the black label, double stiching, two-layer canvas and cushioned arch. Sniff

is still a work in progress.but its gonna be fast as hell. it's a 73 with the original "unit" 5 speed tranny hacked off and a 1950 "Thunderbird" 4 speed grafted on.(Brando rode a '50 Triumph Thunderbird in "the Wild one") a hard tail.Ceriani racing forks,a mix of British,Italian and American parts. its 4" off the ground .if i stand next to it the tallest part of the bike comes to my waist.  LOW RIDER ! the engine has racing history. still need a bunch of parts and kinda low on funds now but i should have it done by next summer.

I often play my Thunderbird, wearing a Triumph t-shirt. Never knew they made a T-bird too! Thanks, man!!
