Title: '65 Bird project for the not faint of heart
Post by: 66Atlas on November 14, 2016, 06:04:25 AM
One of the scarier headstock repairs I've seen.

Mother of epoxy.  That's horrible; priced about right for the moment tho.

Truss rod adjustment is overrated.

Odd, but it looks like they doweled the headstock, then used all that epoxy snot!

The visual embodiment of the highly erroneous statement "if some is good, more is better."

Yaaaargh.

poor thing, I'll keep my eye on it. A new headstock with a scarf joint may be in order. Difficult to see exactly what is going on with all that epoxy.

I'd be worried about finding a broken truss rod under all that goop.

I be worried about whether there even is one at all.

I might keep an eye on this as well. If that headstock can't be saved and one has to be grafted anyways, maybe it'd look best with an 8 string headstock...

In the last closeup of the back of the headstock, it looks like the break is still partially open, despite all that epoxy.

I  am shocked it went for  $1,247.00😲😲😲😲 all I'll say is that is far more than I would consider paying.

Insane!  I wouldn't be surprised if the winning bidder comes to his senses and it gets relisted.

I won't be either. It's probably even worse than pictured.

When you figure in the value of the case, there's probably at least $800 worth of parts there, so is the body/neck worth $400?  Maybe?  :-\
