Oops, sorry. I own a "Tractor" bass so I got a little carried away.

Little off-topic, but would like to see a picture of that! I also have a "Tractor"  8)

I ordered a HB set a month ago, no problem. If you want, I can shoot him an email, maybe that would help.  ;)

As of a few months ago Hanson stopped makingthe HB only single coil.  Are these the old style pups Pete bought from Hanson?

Hanson still makes these full size CS Humbuckers, Jim.
As I understood, they only stopped making the smaller CS Hollowbody size in humbuckers, these are only available as Single Coils now.

Checked it today, and on my BaCHBird it's exactly like on your's before: strings resting on the back rail. I'm still wondering how it would affect the tone.

Interesting about that bridge. Hadn't noticed it on my BaCH Bird, but I'll check for it tomorrow.

That's the right way, I second that: use a template for the guard.  :)

Rather than drilling 4 additional holes in the neck and moving it down, drilling the new holes in the body seems like the smarter idea since the body has already been decapitated. Thoughts?

Very nice catch!

I would also choose to drill new holes in the body and leave the neck as it is.

...any consideration on reversing the pup locations?  Doesn't the Fender have a wider spacing?

Good point. The Fender has a wider spacing and can be used in the bridgeposition without any problems of output/stringbalance. Reversing the pup locations will probably save you a lot of trouble.

And besides that: that Fender at the bridge will scare the #%#% out of you, so much power, it will make a Stingray cry for his mom.  8)  One of my fellow bassplayers judged my Lotto as the best Stingray-sound ever, with the bridgepup solo'd.

Thanks, Doc! I always liked the idea of a "Mel Schacher-mod", but I never succeeded to make it sound just "right". The bad string-balance didn't help either.  :)
