I thought I'd share this cool photo of a very young Michael Steele with an Ampeg Scroll Bass.

that would be an AEB-1.

Yes, she owns #038. I own #028 :-)

Yeah, but she's hotter. ;)

^^^^
Yes, but not as hot as the other one ....

^ is that G-chord Mark? :rimshot:

Really? That's cool.
I always thought Susanna was beautiful but for some reason Michael always appealed to me more. That statement would look funny if you didn't know Michael was a girl!
-
Whatever; we're all pretty open-minded around here.
-
I'm not gonna have a go-go at that. I liked what Frau Hoffs did here with Herr Sweet:

... and then of course, to add confusion - and sweet talk, there is Michael Sweet.
He looked like a girl, sang like a girl and dressed like a girl, that's for sure.
The band (stryper) is still an all girl band in my book until there is brought forward proper evidence.
-
Didn't they all sport a beard for a while?
Girls with hormonal issues then
But they could play some mean twin guitar.
The lyrics were hilariously crappy though

Walk Like an Eqyptian is my all-time fave of theirs. Cool video, catchy tune, what's not to love?

Here's another shot of Steele with a Hagstrom.

This thread needs more Vixen. Leave hair metal to people who are naturally gifted for it.

Uh...what?
I was wondering the same thing. He can't be talking about the guy from Stryper, can he?
Maybe he means the bassist for the Sweet.

Sorry, that's Stryper, yes.
80's girl bands, gotta love them.
My first girlfriend was a big NKOTB fan, so I just knew that AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Krokus and Dio would'nt 'do it' for her.
Cinderella had just put out night songs, so I made a tape of the album on one side and 'nobody's fool' repeated on the other side.
90 minutes later and she was mine.
It didn't last, but I've always had a soft spot for them - Tom really sang well (even live, give moscow peace a listen) and wrote good songs.
Looking back, a kid pointing out NKOTB as sissies and thinking Cinderella looked really tough, well....
-
I saw Cinderella open for AC/DC in 1988 and they were really good. In my opinion they were one of the few good hair bands and they could actually play. I was impressed. That was a fun night for sure!
-
I was never into the hair band thing, so obviously thought Cinderella were a joke. But, Tom Keifer was recently on Letterman, and I was really impressed the the Faces-style rock he was doing. Cool voice.

Didn't Keifer buy Ron Wood's Zemaitis guitar that was used on "Stay With Me"?

...
Okay, but I don't get it.
OTOH I still think that Suzi Quatro and Rick Derringer are one and the same. ;)

Possibly, his guitar collection is well known. It´s well worth checking out early cinderella footage just to see him throw
50´s les paul standards and telecasters across the stage between numbers, trusting the tech to catch it...
But I must say it surprised me to see him demonstrate his les paul (58 or 59?) recently, he talked about how wonderful the tone was, and played it through a G-deck or some crappy modelling amp. I don´t get it...
-
I know I fit in here somehow! ;D
I loves me the hair metal.........................No apologies ;)

McCartney tosses his Hofner off the stage every night, at a different time, the same way. His tech has never missed.

Cinderella's old videos are some of the best cinematography to ever hit MTV, back when they ya know, played music videos. "Heartbreak Station" is my favorite.
-
It's great to come out of the Cinderella closet, at last!
I got a cassette or a single or something from a bandmate who heard somewhere about me liking them,
he took me aside and said: please don't tell anybody that this came from me..
Maybe I should get me some spandex and hair and just live out my teenage fantasies?
Erm.. anyway, speaking of cool cindy guitars, Eric (Brittingham), I recently noticed - also used some classy axes.
I only remember him playing some 'white P bass with pointy headstock' , but seeing moscow and other live stuff I think I saw a Red hollowbody Rick
and a well worn and rather old P bass. Good taste, that's for sure.
-
Been searching Cinderella videos and found Gypsy Road. It's a laughable contrast between the band and the locals.

They do look a bit more road worn these days :)

I would note Eric Brittingham in that vid, he looks bummed and has no bass.......It was shot in Mexico, first thing that happened was someone stealing it before the video shoot. The band running thru the various ancient ruins was a violation of what the Mexican gov't said they could do - at that point the band didn't care! The on-stage stuff was done in L.A.
-
Brittingham headed up a band called Naked Beggars after Cinderella. They used to hit one of the metal bars here regularly until Cinderella started touring again.
-
no hair metal for me....
-
I saw Cinderella relatively recently in London - my son loves them. It was a good show, but given that the "newest" song was from the early nineties pure nostalgia and I couldn't help thinking that Keifer felt the same way. He sang well, but his mind seemed to be elsewhere. His new solo album is worth a listen, basically a bit New Country/bit Faces where he sings in a different, less sceeching range except for a few songs where the Cinderell bug bit him again and he unnecessarily feels obliged to show that he can still do even if his heart is no longer in it.

On Keifer's recent solo tour my best friend's band opened for them the first night out. I thought they did great, not my style of music, though. Super nice guy though, watched their whole soundcheck and was very easy going and talked gear with the band afterward. Changed guitars like it was going out of style through his set, too.
