You mean you've never seen one with gold hardware? Well there's a few around out there, Uwe has one. The color is called rootbeer, tres magnifique! If it was for sale stateside I'd be $1,000 lighter in the wallet.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

IIRC the first doublecut (i.e. before it was the Money Bass) had two finishes, cherry and root beer, and both were available with gold or chrome hardware.

FWIW, it's fairly easy/painless to buy from them.  Shipping to the 'States would probably run about US $150 via EMS (full tracking end-to-end), and they accept Paypal.  Also, I was able to negotiate price with them before - never hurts to ask!

Nice lookin' bass!

I'll have to think about it. I was headed to Brockton Mass today to check out this Guild B-301
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1978-GUILD-B-301-BASS-/251231949180?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D5846567059492145306%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D251231949180%26
If it wins me over, I might try to negotiate a deal for it, possibly trade in the G&L SB1.

Warum?
Because I couldn't remember one out of 180 bass guitars I saw that weekend?

I have one of those. I always liked the look and they are of course cult objects and sturdy basses to boot, but that pup sounds kind of honky, very prominent nasal mids which you have to dial out on your amp. Not everybody's taste I would imagine.

Well the nasal aspects of my EB3 and $ LP work for me so I'm sure the  b301 could as well. I'm waiting until Wednesday to check it out assuming it won't sell on the bay. Nice thing is, the bass is close enough that I can make the decision in person as to wether I like it or not. Herbie, isn't the red squirrel the true squirrel of England whilst the Grey is an interloping marauder?

I prefer to think friendly guest, like all our two-legged European, African and Asian visitors... ;D
The red (sciurus vulgaris) has effectively "retreated" due to a virus carried by the greys (sciurus carolinensis) which is fatal to them... We have some nice Canadian geese that don't want to go home too... and a ruddy duck all but wiped out the white faced duck...
We gave you starlings... ;D
We have parakeets and doves from India that are always an interesting site in the garden...

The white squirrel is suppose to be rare around these parts, but I've seen three or four of them terrorizing my neighborhood. Minnesota might not be the gopher state for long.........
