I don't think I've ever seen this one before.

Yeah, but it comes with fresh roundwound strings, so it's definitely worth $3300.

This. I'm pretty sure the "limited edition" sticker refers to the ebony board. That's it. My black 2002 "limited edition" had that and an MOT pickguard (with the stamped bird). I added chrome pickups and hardware, but never claimed that stuff was original. I think if this had been an actual, commercially available model in 1995, at least ONE of us would have known about it (or talked about it at the Dudepit or here).

Where's the serial number? I suspect a refinned back after a headstock incident. The Limited Edition decal could be a retrofit after all.

Looking at this view, below the E on the sticker and to the left, I would say it is a repaired headstock.

These covers and the vintage look pups just don't look right with the small post-'87 headstock (which has everything going for it balance- und stability-wise, though the larger vintage headstock looks gorgeous of course).

I also think it's weird that they kept the Schaller M4 tuners.

Please explain your reasoning for this - if that were the case shouldn't the crack be running in the perpendicular direction?

That ties in with the "let's make it less likely to break off"-concept though, smaller tuners equates less leverage and general getting-in-the-way.

 The whole thing is weird - beyond Gibson weird. Heavy corrosion on the pups and tuners, strange.
