The saga is drawing to a end. I just got this wired up this AM. I started this back in the pit days, just a scrap of a late 60's Thunderbird II, it has been in one piece now for over a year thanks to a new neck by Michael Dolan, he did a fantastic job btw. Then I put the 60's pup I was going to use on it in my much rehabbed '67 NR Thunderbird so once again the bass was with out a pup. six months ago I ordered a Seymour Duncan Custom shop pup, it showed up last week  :o I just got the pots and caps the other day. So after years of silence this bass is sounding beautiful ! I am very happy and I think in the end well worth the effort ! Still needs to be finished, I was going to do Polaris white(the original color) but I might be open to suggestions. The bass still needs little bits here and there like shielding and a ground to the bridge etc. but I can't wait to take it to rehearsal and play a song on it ! For those who never saw how it started out.

Looks great, Scott! After seeing the refinished Bach it's hard not to picture custom colors. Do you still have a white NR bird? If so, I say go for a custom!

No white NRs left  Well just the NR Fenderbird. I am working with a friends auto body shop they are going to finish my bodies for me, I might send this off to them or just wait till spring and do it myself. I am just happy to be able to plug it in and play ! I A-B ed it to my '69 scary  :o close in tone !

I've got a thing for white basses but I think this one would look cool in Firemist Gold or Inca Silver.  That and I'm still thinking about one in surf colors too.

Red is a nice colour, and I must remind you that red basses sound best.

Wow, I remember that half piece of junk you showed us at the Dudepit!
You and Dolan did a great job.
That color that Joe did on his BaCHbird looks very pretty.

But, if I may ask, what is that Les Paul body there on the shelf in the back?

Rob ask away ! That is a '69 Les Paul bass body I bought from someone here, I can't remember who it was though. One of those I'm not sure what to do with it projects.

Here's a neat site to get lost in as far as color selection goes.  They have a ton of automotive paint chip selection charts presented online:

    http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/aclchip.aspx?image=1964-mercury-pg01.jpg

(...and a link to their homepage:  http://autocolorlibrary.com/)

Based on the paint codes, these guys can mix up rattle cans (or quarts) of lacquer:

The bass looks funny without a Model G on it!
