I've never been interested in what any celebrity, musician, or whatever had to say about politics.  More often than not, they don't know jack and just end up making idiots out of themselves.  Not just Ted Nugent, but others out there voicing their opinions about current events, etc. I wish all of them would totally STFU.  I know there is freedom of speech, but I'd like to have the freedom to not be inundated so much with uninformed, meaningless gibberish from celebrities who are operating way outside their field of expertise.

I saw Ted a couple of years ago at, of all places, a tribal casino. In Canada. With a significant number of Indian guys in the crowd who dug Ted.  And they overall dug the pro hunting and pro gun rants.  And his end of show Iwo Jima reenactment, which I think was out of place but great spectacle, so I guess it works internationally except maybe Japan.  Ted has left enemies but he was very pro native through the gig as he now hunts with some indigenous friends, so I lay this as political payback.  Fine.

+1. Ted has been pro-native since his days with the Amboy Dukes - ex. "The Great White Buffalo" from their Tooth, Fang and Claw album.
Ted is Ted - and for every one of him, there's ten from the opposite end of the spectrum - and those shows rarely get cancelled.

Interesting and well done article. So the Nuge is definitely a liar no matter what. What really annoys me about Nugent is my suspicion that his hateful rantings relate more to his career than and desire for a crusade. Before all of his Obama bashing he was a has-been second tier old rocker. Now he regularly makes the national news. OK so he got a few concerts canceled but overall his recent shenanigans have boosted his popularity way beyond what his crappy music deserves. (OK, so I'm not a fan. I probably like Dave Mathews better)

Nugent is very much like Rush Limbaugh: if he's not in the news presently, a more outrageous statement is needed. Just not quite outrageous enough for the Secret Service to throw his ass in jail. THAT would F up his career.

 When all you got - or ever had is/was bombast in the key of "A" ya gotta do something.

Up to this point he visited the Emerald Queen a couple time a year, it'll be interesting to see where that goes.

He's done better.  Call of the Wild and Little Miss Dangerous were my favorites.  He's always been pretty much out there.  Still, he did teach me my first blues progression at the age of 16 at my house.  His mom came to my wedding.  I have to wonder what she would say about him these days.

In my mind, his first "solo" album is his best work - it's hard to find fault with that album on any level. "Stranglehold" is about as badass as it gets. Pretty much anything he released during the 70s is pretty solid stuff. Derek St. Holmes was and is one of the best, and that band, with Rob DeLaGrange and Cliff Davies as the rhythm section was as tight as ocean balls. I even like the Penetrator album that he did with Brian Howe on vocals in the mid 80s. Like most artists, the well eventually runs dry, and I've been less than thrilled with the later stuff - but that's life.
Ted's guitar work tends to be dismissed by people because of things other than his playing. If I did that with every artist who didn't share my views - and there are many - I'd have a much smaller music collection.

You're allowed to have right of center views as a musician, just like you are allowed to have left of center views, not everyone needs to be Morrissey/Neil Young/Joan Baez. Musicians as diverse as Bryan Ferry (card-carrying Thatcherite), Alice Cooper, Ian Anderson (from left to right), Lynyrd Skynyrd/Herr Medlocke, Neil Peart (when he was still a card-carrying Ayn Rand'ist, that didn't make Rush a fascist outfit though) and Gene Simmons (who voted for Obama first time though, so there is still some good old Jewish East Coast liberalism in him) are/were right of center and that's fine. Not my political view, but it doesn't keep me from enjoying their music, I find none of them offensive.

Uncle Ted is different. He is not just right of center, he is an inane, offensive hate-language waffler. Way below the belt. What exactly is the political message of calling the current US President a "subhuman mongrel"? Ok, let's see, "subhumans" (Untermenschen) belong in the gas chamber, there is German expertise on that.    And a "mongrel" indicates that not being "racially" pure is somehow inferior, the KKK will be pleased, though they at least call Obama a "mulatto" which is probably above a "mongrel" in their and Ted's twisted worlds. So that is what he said (and later apologized for, but the issue is that he says shite like that all the time, his comments on a female Secretary of State were intolerable hate-language too).

Just goes to show what an idiot Ted has become. Further proof is his newest album - who except him would get Derek St. Holmes back on board, yet relegate the guy with the superior voice to just singing one song on the new album?
