Can you guys see my photos starting from page 1 here?

Nothing lasts forever, but it will be intersting to see how things play out.

Now that prices seem more reasonable, I might consider paying the annual fee to maintain the archive, but I won't post anything new there.

Yes, I can see them. Are you paying them now but considering whether or not to renew? Or are these somehow showing up without the watermarks on a free account?

My guess is that users will bail in massive numbers if they don't maintain access to photos which are below the data limit. That bailout would doubtless lead to another new owner.

I already spent an afternoon downloading photos to make sure I have all of them. Their download mechanism is primitive and a huge pain in the ass. Every minute that I spent doing that stupid and inconvenient process, I got more pissed at them.

They can kiss my ass now. There is no way I'd ever pay them for storage, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Free users will probably bail. That won't reduce PB's income since they aren't paying now, but as a means to gain new paying customers, it will be a big fail.

I was a paying customer back in the day, but my card expired right before they took everybody's account hostage.

So far, it seems as though none of my links have been impacted.

It's reall peculiar.

Well, I just got a nastymail from Photobucket informing me that all of my images will be blurred and watermarked on September 9th.

Let's see how that pans out but they're not getting a red cent from me. Ever.

I haven't gotten anything from them, guess I'll check on the 9th. I suspect most of us have our photos backed up on hard drives but the problem is still all the images uploaded to forums and other sites over the years.

All of drbassman's images in his Home made luthier/shop tools stickied thread are watermarked now, it would be a shame to lose them.

I'm a mod on another forum and the Photobucket mess hit all of the archived threads hard. Just speaking for myself, I don't have time to go back through the how-to stuff I've posted there and re-load the photos.

So they did watermark all of my images, nothing blurred yet. Oh well.

Sent me an email as well stating that I "must take action" in other words, pay...

Nope. Let's see what happens next.

I got that note too.

I won't even dignify them by going to their frickin' website.

I'm now both watermarked and blurred.

It looks like I started hosting images on my site in 2017, so I'll probably just let those older images remain blurry forever.

I think most folks who go looking that far back will understand exactly what happened.

If I ever feel the need, I can always recreate the history in blog format on my own site.

I just looked at mine again and sure enough, most of them are blurred judging by the site where most of the links lead to. On another site, no watermarks and no blurring. Not the same images, though.

Mine are watermarked but aren't blurred, apparently because I have fewer than 250 images up.

Regardless, all of these changes are ridiculous. the old ownership held everyone hostage, the new ownership promised that wouldn't happen, yet here we are.
