Yes that is correct; I tested an Orange Terror Bass 500 Watt class D amp plus their smart cabs 2x12 and 2x10.
The Terror Bass lacks all dynamics that I'm used to with the Orange AD200 and any other Full Tube or even Solid State amp I've ever used.
For the first time in my 25+ years bass playing career I had to use the volume knob on my bass guitar, to create some sort of dynamics in my playing as the amp itself did not respond to the nuances I make with my right hand...
It puzzles me why engineers can't make an intelligent digital (or class D) power amp part that "knows" when you intend to either whisper or pound with your bass.

Interesting theory Uwe.
For me it almost seems to be the other way around.
When I want to focus on rhythm and play percussive and more straightforward parts I use the pick.
When I want to focus on melody and when I interchange a lot between the four strings I prefer fingerstyle.
But also,
when I want it tight and with some aggression I use the pick.
When I want it more fluent and with more subtility I prefer fingerstyle.
For me it almost seems to be the other way around.

Maybe it had two bridged power amps?
The whole amp was a joke of Adrian Emsley. Obviously only meant as a showpiece.
I wonder how many people actually noticed it said 5000 watts on the face plate.

Our keyboard player uses a Hammond XK3. Not a B3 (thankgod! that would be an ordeal to haul around).
He has a Leslie. But he hardly ever brings it to gigs. Instead he uses a pedal for the Leslie effect.
What you hear on these recordings is mostly the Hammond. They are kinda low in the mix because I think they'd get in the way of the guitar and/or bass.

At least Thin Lizzy managed to use the twin guitar style to make exciting songs with head and tail.

Bass Centre claims it's a medium scale bass. But to me it looks like a normal short scale EB3.
No information what kind of wood it is, and wether it's bolt on or set neck.
Not exactly dirt cheap. But still affordable at 399 BPS

The bass is there but as you said, not that defined - the sound is pretty good (imho), but just needs some crispness, drums are fine but the bass-drum is a wooly, Floor's possibly a bit to up-front in the mix (not sure the vocal "effect" in the middle of one number works in this mix), guitars fine (personal taste says the "SRV" riff should be "cleaner"), I think you keys player should shoot the mix-man - you can only hear him on one break and just towards the end of the "SRV"
(can I come out now...?)
Overall opinion is that they are great numbers; with a little bit of work, they may reach brilliance...

-lead voc up front - hey she's the front lady
-effect in the middle - just trying things out. I thought it needed something extra there. not sure myself either
-guitar cleaner - I like the diversity in sound. Our former guitarst basicly had just one sound. The new one is more versatile.
-keys - They are a bit of a problem. Especially the piano/rhodes/wurlitzer parts tend to get in the way of things. That's why I muted them a lot. ( he agreed upon that btw). I think he should change those parts. Especially what his left hand does.

Yes, my self built LP. The Brooks Bass.
To be honest that bass didn't sound the way it should have. When we recorded it I still hadn't get round to rewiring it and solve some probems.
The bass lacked authority and punch.
It gave me quite a few problems with the mixing of the recordings. Still not 100% happy with the mix. I'd love to hear your opinions on the mix.
I'm still mixing and forever changing little things
Last week we got some airplay with Arrow Rock Radio (www.arrow.nl). They played "Tossin' & Turnin", but it sounded awful with the compression they processed. Somehow the combination of the compression I gave it and theirs didn't work at all...
