The Schaller 460 - Too thick?
« on: March 11, 2008, 05:51:19 PM »
Some feel the mass of the 460 makes it impossible to mount on an EB2, without modifying the bridge, or even removing the saddles.  Raises the action way too high.  PShaw!  Just break out a Swiss army knife or chisel, and...

That is just SO VERY SAD  :'(

I've said it before, WTF crosses anybodies mind to make them think this kind of thing is a good idea.

Genius.  Obviously a strategic move intended to draw attention away from the tuners.

WTF crosses anybodies mind to make them think this kind of thing is a good idea.

I'm guessing a twelver of Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Here's a 460 on my 66 EB-2D...despite the angle looking really weird it works perfectly. Yeah...the roller saddles have been removed. I sat there with a screw driver and hammer in my hand thinking to myself...I'll just cut down the top around the bridge area...then opted for this instead ;-)) It is now back to stock and working just fine.

Fact is it is too bulky, too tall and just looks lame for the bass.

I remember that, and how you had to put it at an angle.

Go on; pretend that you don't know that the supertone won't work on an archtop.

That's ok, I'll keep reminding everyone.  :P

Oh yes.  I like that thing a lot actually.  Takes the three point back to rationality.

Isn't Hipshot supposedly working on a version of the Supertone that would work with an EB-2 (or other archtops)?

That's the story I heard about half a year ago.  No updates yet - website makes no mention.
