There may not have been any official reissue, but I have played a '55 CS Masterbuilt (by Mark Kendrick) that was true to the original styling of that era. I also owned a CS "Vintage Precision Custom," a 90s CS model with a conventional PJ setup but otherwise had all the '55 era styling features. And let's not forget the Dirnt Precision.

I still prefer slab bodies.

Actually Dave, I think you overlooked the siggy model for mr Sumner here which is as official a reissue of that style as can be...

There are also the Japanese Pink Paisley/Blue Floral '54 reissues from ca 2002.

I bought one of those to ship to Aussie Mark and got to play it for a few days. I loved it. I totally need one of those someday.

Slab body, single coil basses are not everyones cup of tea, but since I got my 51 RI a few years ago, they're absolutely my weapon of choice :).

Myself I have a '68 Telecaster for my slabness & '51 reissue neck on a reissue Sting for my contureness.
