I was in the sale annex at my local Barnes & Noble the other day and picked up a copy of Bass Culture: The John Entwistle Bass Collection. This is a $40 (USD) hardcover book that is being sold on clearance at $9.98. It's one of the most amazing picture books I've seen, filled with breathtaking shots of The Ox's instruments. Get a copy before they're all gone.

It's a great book! I also bought it in a sale and I take a loook i it almost every day!
I also have the auction guide somewhere, which is great! A big flightcase for like six Buzzards, including the basses as 'a Flock Of Buzzards', another flightcase with a complete repair store for basses and one with like six different colour leather stage jackets, six matching pairs of trousers and six pairs of high heeled leather boots. Brilliant!

Thanks for the tip. I'll go look for a copy today.

Good luck getting it back without crayon scribbled all over it !
The book was a major major major disappointment to me.
They totally ignored the basses so many copied and HE PERSONALLY CREATED - the Fenderbirds, basses he used in the pinnacle of his playing. Sad they left that out. A huge oversight in my opinion. WTF???????
Let them scribble away I say!

If you have the auction guide and the book, you've got all!
I think the pictures where made a while before the book was printed. He talks about the Warwicks being his stage basses, and nothing about the Status Buzzards (only Buzzards with Status necks). he also talks about a lot of basses being in repair, on other locations, in the US.
Most of his live basses are in it. A Gretsch, a Rivoli, Alembics, Warwicks, Thunderbirds, 4005s and of course the Frankenstein P.
I always drool over those nice Ps, Warwicks, Alembics, Gibsons, Rickenbackers and great guitars!!

I too was bummed at the lack of coverage of my FAVORITE Entwistle basses. Apparently, they only included basses that were in his possession at the time the photos were taken. I guess the F-birds are all in Hard Rock Cafes, or were given away. There is a great shot of the orange Explorerbird though. Super sexy beast that is!
