I like narrow string spacing on fivers (I play 99% pick) and if I ever buy one, I'll string it with a high C.

Dave W

Even with a pick it's narrow to me. Guitar-type spacing is fine with guitar strings, not so much with thicker strings.

I used to play an A-width Fender Bass VI and a Dano tic-tac bass... I suppose I'll be fine  ;D

I wasn't sure if this was red or Ruby... hard to tell from the pic if it's metallic.

It's Ruby, the red does not have the metallic glow...

Cool!

Wish there were more pics to drool on...

Have anyone ever seeing a pre '73 with the full width inlays, half-inch spaced toaster but with single binding instead of the checkerd?
Just wondering, since Ric apears to have some instruments with overlaping features during transition periods.

ilan

No, never. First the crushed pearl inlays were replaced by poured material, then the inlays got shorter (around May '73), 3-4 months later the checkerboard binding was gone, some time during that year the toasters were replaced with button-tops, and it took another whole year for the 1" spacing (all 74's were half-inch) and raised-letter TRC's. During the transitional period, the neck pickup cavity was routed for both 1" and half-inch spacing.

4080 in Azureglo - my favorite Ric fin...

Wrong colour for Geddy clones... ;)

When did Lemmy have the logo replaced by Rickenb*st*rd...?
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Can't remember ever seeing a 4080 with white pick guards and truss cover, some may have been special order perhaps.
The first series with the small bodies were so much more well proportioned IMO, but then the neck joint for the bass was so weaky.
