Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (drummer and bassist of Deep Purple, Jake!)
Symmetric or near-symmetric guitar and bass shapes do little for me, the SG being the noteworthy exception. Ok, add the Flying V to that. It's against nature if you're lower half is exactly the same as your upper half. Non-symmetric shapes such as the Explorer, TBird, Stratocaster, single-cut Les Paul, Telecaster, Iceman, Jazz Bass and Ric 4001/4003 do it for me. I find them more elegant, there is more motion to their shape, symmetry tends to look too cute. And the Les Paul Junior (or Doublecut), which apparently has so many fans here, looks to me like a toy guitar ... there I said it.
Symmetry is the classical look. Violin family instruments, classical guitars etc. Elongated upper horn was a Fender invention for better balance on a strap.
