Canadian folk music icon Gordon Lightfoot dead at 84

He’s been looking fragile for quite a while.
Still a bit of a shock to lose him. He was quite an established songwriter before he began recording his material.

His bassist has been with him since the late 60’s , and created some interesting counter melodic parts to the material. He wasn’t a root five player.
Lovely note choice. If you listen to his parts he added some serious depth to the material.

Sad to hear about Gordon.  I really liked his songwriting.

I think Sundown would come out really good in a rock setting.  I want to see if I can get my band to play it.

 I sincerely liked a lot of his music, he was an accomplished lyricist. R.I.P. to one of the very best, thank you for your incredible music.

Rick Beato did an interesting show on Lightfoot. I remember he did mention a Lightfoot song years ago.
Lightfoot’s first instrument was actually piano. Although he was a fine guitar player. He would score his songs.
