There is life in the ...

Dark old Lady yet:

Eat your heart out Madonna (though given modern medicine and implants/replacements as well as the spiritual benefits of a Kabbalah-guided life, Ms Ciccone will probably live to be a 130 which gives her ample time to beat Cher).

And the fruit of that collaboration can be seen in "If I can turn back time" playing lead guitar (the kid with the blond hair)!

This proves that bad taste spans any generation gap.

I thought she was ugly back when she was real, all the plastic surgery makes me realize how much worse it can get. Compared to today, she was only slightly homely back then.

You're harsh, Dave! At least she has sculpted herself to look different from most of the competition. I thought she had a good phase around Silkwood and The Mask and possibly Moonstruck, things turned bad when she had that nose job removing the very pretty "ethnic bump" her nose ridge had originally.

Jennifer Aniston made the same mistake, she's been working for years making the "Greekness" in her unseen. We really should have more banana pictures with her.

I remember when she was on the cover of Time, about 1972. My next door neighbor, who only vaguely knew who she was, told me he couldn't imagine waking up in bed next to that. And that was in her good years! Today, she looks ghastly.

I like the chunky 1970's Dolly best.   :)

Is it true that she is gay?

Aren't you mistaking Elijah Blue and Chas(tity), Ken? The former has no issues with his gender I believe,

Smoke and mirrors, I guess, these days - used to hang with specific people when younger and a bit more flamboyant... Not someone I took a great deal of interest in but things often turned up in storys about Gregg that I read at the time...

Chaz Bono is legally male...

Dolly is exceptionally public and exceptionally private - Jackie saw her quite a few times through the 70's when they used to pack Wembley for the country shows...

Dolly parton on Larry king in 2009: “I am not gay. I have been accused of that. But I have been happily married for 42 years to the same man. And he’s not the least bit, you know, threatened by the fact that I may be gay.”

I prefer the early pre-enhanced Dolly. And unlike Cher, she can actually sing well.

This is one of her first singles.

Cher had a better sense of dress though! She sometimes looked like an urban  high class hooker or a Las Vegas showgirl, but she never looked trailer park.

No doubt Dolly sang and sings better, but I always found that Cher was never foolish enough to venture outside of the inherent limits of her voice which is essentially like a man's with limited color and range. But I've seen her live in concert and she get's by well. And really sings like no other woman does with her very own individual style..

Dolly aimed at the trailer market... she clearly records seeing someone like that when she was young and wanting to look like that when she grew up...

Jackie's family grew up dirt-poor farmers - the same people now just live in trailers - all they can afford - nothing wrong with a roof over your head... ;)

So you've seen her as well... what year? (you already know when I saw her)
