Rickenbacker Basses / NBDay, 72 Jetglo.
« on: February 01, 2011, 01:32:44 PM »
Well here it is, sorry about the phone pictures, bought it last week on the spur of the moment. I have always wanted a Jetglo and also one from 72 ish still having all the nice finishing touches, so seeing it I kind of just paid the man. After a complete strip down and clean it's come up really well, body has some buckle scratches and some paint wear through, but amazingly there are no ding's, neck is straight and true, the inlays are great, the frets on the A string are quite worn. Brightwork is fantastic except the bridge which is loosing it's chrome. The electrics look pretty much stock, but for the missing .0047.
One thing I have found, is, that it has no 'Skunk stripe', looking at other early 72's even before mine (may 72) they had them, perhaps they just used up the older bodys for the solid colours and the Mapleglo's got the new.

Rickenbacker Basses / 4003 differences through production.
« on: November 08, 2010, 02:42:23 AM »
I have a 79 4001 burgundy that I've had from new, it's almost mint, but I'm giging more and more these days, so I thought to get a 4003 and have the 4001 for studio as the fret wear on the A string is getting quite bad.
My question is, are there any golden years or ones to avoid with the 4003, did early ones still have the skunk stripe, etc. Forgive me if this has been posted before.
